Adjustable Gullet Bars

Does anyone have experience of using a saddle whose gullet bars can be changed?

If so, did you use the facility and did it actually deal with the changing shape of the horse OK?

Yes, and yes.
I have a Kent and masters GP Cob (same as a T4) when my lad put some weight on, I had to go up a gullet size, which worked really well.

Yes - have got a Bates saddle for Fabio which he's had since he was 4. Has suited him really well. I would recommend them

Yep, had a wintec and a thorowgood.

Bars are dead easy to change - just unscrew the panel, unscrew and swap the bar over and screw it all back together again.

I've used mine quite a lot - either for the horse putting on/loosing weight or for trying it on different horses.

I also have a Bates saddle, I bought it for my Welsh D youngster & In the first year of having it I changed the gullet about 6 times because he changed shape so much. He was a 14.3 Welsh D & I know have a 16hh cleveland bay & the saddle fits him perfectly. So it was definatley worth every penny.
