Please help!

I am trying to find a GP/jumping saddle for my very high withered 4 year old warmblood and I have come to the conclusion (with the help of a saddle fitter) that I either need a specific saddle for high withered horses like the Jeffries Falcon Hawk High Withered saddle OR an adjustable gullet saddle (not synthetic!).

I am keen to find out more about the GFS Monarch, Bates, Kent and Masters, Pessoa, Saddle Company, Collegiate, Kiefer, Fairfax and Tekna adjustable gullet saddles; any advice on them welcome!

Also anyone who has had these for a very high withered horse, how did you find them? Did they give enough clearance?!

My horse is very narrow all the way down her stomach (if that makes any sense) so need a saddle shape that doesn't flair out lots at the bottom as it won't even touch her sides!

Many thanks! :)

I know you haven't mentioned this saddle and its not totally leather but have you looked at the thorowgood saddles? I never wanted a synthetic one but needed something adjustable for my young Tb. It is part synthetic, part leather. Its a thorowgood anatomical t8 gp. Its so comfy and easily adjustable.... Just a thought

What about a Hastilow saddle? Mine has an adjustable gullet and a cutaway pommel (if that's the correct terminology!)

KEnt and Master are the leather version of Thorowgood, so I would expect they have a leather saddle similar to the t8 you mention

I really like my bates saddle, but my horse isn't high withered but I would say that if you were looking at a bates you need to make sure you have an approved fitter!

I have gone through 5 fitters before I found one that actually knows how to correctly fit the saddle, as its air! 2 fitters told me to remove the cair and replace with flock! in the end I had to get a Bates rep out, who referred me to my current fitter.

I had Kieffer dressage and GP for my high withered WB. Trees on both were heat adjustable although I think the newest ones have a different adjustment mechanism. When I was buying I also tried Albions which fitted the horse well also but I preferred the Kieffer for me. If you're going the route of a leather adjustable saddle, make sure your fitter has the proper equipment to adjust it correctly. A friend of mine bought the same model of Kieffer and the horse was never quite happy in it until she had it checked by my saddler who said the chap she'd originally used had just stuffed loads of flocking in to make it narrower, making the saddle rock hard. Poor horse.

Loved my Kieffer so much and am gutted I am going to have to sell it as the tree is just too curvy for the horse I have now. After nearly two years I am reluctantly accepting he isn't going to change shape that much that it will fit!

WOW with double deep panels (DDWG) ?

Whereabouts are you? I have a new jump saddle on order and I'll be selling a GP/jump with DDWG or DWG panels for £600 in about six weeks. I'd be happy to bring it over for you to try it if we were close. I'm north west.

I have a Kent and masters for my horse. Love it its so comfortable. Easily adjusted too and my horse has high withers too but still in the normal saddle. There is a high withered version.

Oh haven't heard of WOW before, unfortunately I'm in the South West and am looking for something a little cheaper than that, but thanks so much for the suggestion!

I really like the sound of these, thanks for sharing! Kieffer is definitely sounding good so far :D

I have an adjustable tree Albion jump saddle for my youngster, love it! Would have been through many saddles by now but can just keep tweaking this. Rides and feelss just like the k2 had (and loved) on previous horse.
