Friend recently got a Wintec CC jump saddle, the Wintec gauge said Blue gullet which is MW, so thats what got, in trot back of saddle/cantle area lifts, so was told via Wintec, its to wide on gullet, oddly enough pony had always been in a M gullet, so it was changed to the Black gullet M, an damn it, it doesnt even move !!!
I have a Bates VSD that I paid £1000 for with a M gullet, which is what my boy is, and also the gauge says he is to, yet mine has moved in the past, other riders have said, but only v slightly, no way I could drop my lad to a MN gullet, yes he got high withers, but that would deff impede his shoulder movement I feel.
Anyone else had the same with Bates & Wintec saddles ?

Did Wintec never suggest that the other reason for saddles lifting at the back is that the tree is too curvy? Yes, too wide a gullet will make it lift at the back, but if the tree is curvier than the horse's back you get a rocking horse effect.

Not sure if they had told her that or not, but was amazed that saddler put a MW gullet in as he is usually a M gullet, she had the back raising issue so swapped it to a M gullet an the prob completely gone.

I find that wintec/bates saddles don't have enough thickness at the back, where as a thorowgood does. I spent ages trying to find saddlrd

Stupid phone!! Spent ages finding a saddle. I thought my horses were a lot narrower than were, most horses are a bigger than we think.
