I am on the lookout for a dressage saddle for my mare. I originally bought her to BSJA, but am slowly converting over to the dark side of dressage!

I have a Kent & Masters High Wither GP, which is adjustable. This fits her brilliantly, and is a really lovely comfy saddle. They also do this is a dressage version, but I like a large knee roll and deep seat, and this doesn't particularly have either.

I am not looking to spend thousands, preferably anything up to £1k would be great, second hand even better!

I have heard that kieffer saddles are supposed to be good for high withered horses, due to a cut back head, however this doesn't have the adjustability factor?

Any other alternatives?

My friend has a Kieffer on her high withered TB and she loves it. I have a Wintec Isabell Werth and find it very comfortable. Well worth a try.

WOW dressage saddle are good for this, and 2nd hand dressage one's usually only go for £500-£700 MAX as they aren't as sought after as jumping, well worth looking into imo :)

I have a Kieffer on a very high withered TB - the trees are adjustable by a qualified fitter and have some give in them when you are riding.

She goes well in it - but they are a bit like marmite with riders - I have two a GP and a dressage Kieffer and love them but my RI hates them and finds them very uncomfortable.

Tried a friends WoW saddle on her today and had a sit in it, has got great wither clearance but I can't seem to find many second hand! As they are so adjustable I think people just keep them!

Bates innova are gorgeous, does anyone know the wither clearance on them?

they are always on ebay, most seem to be put on at £750 but not get sold. what we've done is put it in watch list and then if it isn't sold message the seller and offer them a price, often they are just happy to get money back in the bank

I only walked my mare around in the wow today, as it wasn't a great fit, but I did it difficult to get my leg on? She is quite narrow (Warmblood but thoroughbred type). Have you found this?

Have to say I've found thorowgood really good on my high wither WB, though it was a gp not dr saddle! Thorowgoods are dirt cheap on eBay so might be worth keeping an eye on. I'm currently using an Albion dr saddle in him which has been reflocked for high wither, so that could also be an option but is obv less easy to change!!

I'm using a Thorowgood T6 high wither dressage model on my ISH who has high withers and really like it. It fits him great, adjustable, lightweight and is very comfortable. Would definitely buy another.

Will be watching this thread with interest, since my dressage saddle went bust, and I'd like to find a replacement that won't cost more than the pony...

Searching e-bay, I've seen a bunch of ads for a synthetic, supposedly self-adjusting saddle available in a dressage model for about £150. I've seen the GP version of this saddle on a horse in our yard, and the owner seems quite happy with it, but it sounds far too good to be true! Does anybody have any experience with that make?
