I know there's been a lot of posting about Oxyshot before, but I just wondered if anyone had a fail safe method of ensuring that the damn stuff goes in the horse, not down your arm???

Its so runny, plus I'm 5'5", and the horse is 16.1... Its like her head needs to be up to get the stuff to stay in her mouth, but once its up, I can't reach!!! and obviously, she's not being helpful, can't blame her really!!!

Any help appreciated!!

Oooh I'm intrigued. I just bought some but haven't tried it yet. Was guessing it was like sedaline - try and inject under the tongue but if it is really runny maybe that won't work.

Well the other problem is that I have little hands, and for the first dose, big tube to get hold of! Let me know how you get on!

oh the things that are sort of strapped on... crikey! poor Georgina will be horrified by all these ideas, she was popping her eyes onto stalks at the stuff alone lol

hehe, cheers, may resort to one of those, its too expensive to waste, and its really hard to work out if it has any effect if most of it ends up on the floor!

I had same problem - wasted first dose as the tube is too big. Haven't attempted it again.

The reason that it is so runny is that it is WATER!!! My company's chemist tested some in our lab, thats it folks water & er oxygen, first it was performance enhancing, then suddenly by magic a calmer!!! How can this be?? Whispers... perhaps it can't, & someone just has a HUGE maketing budget.

In fairness someone I have my horse next door to found it worked as a calmer before it was marketed as such. They kept it to themselves, but not for long. I don't have a problem with the idea behind it.

lmao-cant believe this thread on 2 points

oxygen cannot be absorbed from the gut.

some of you are unable to give your horse a drink of water and are worried about it.

c'mon people-dont fall for it!

Reference?

would actually really like to read something about it that isnt just what the manufacturers say.

Or maybe you could try and find the manufacturers scientific evidence for the claims they make....believe me you wont!

Someone very clever in marketing rather than someone very clever in a lab is making a lot of money!

What's it supposed to have in it I must admit when I first heard the name I thought it was something like red cell. I didn't realise it was a calmer.

Come on guys. please don't fall for it. What a big load of rubbish. If you test it or get someone clever to test it you'll find just how complicated its formulation is............water.......water.....water...and a bit of oxygen.
To be honest the cheaper otion would be to give your horse a bucket of water and allow it to breathe.
Sorry to be so cynical but what a marketing scam. someone is making a lot of money at your expense.

What´s hydrogen peroxide, if you don´t mind me asking? Because in Argentina it´s called Agua Oxigenada (oxygenated water) in its dilute form (10 vols/3 percent solution, for instance)

Thats exactly it Papafrita, don't know the exact formulation but Agua Oxigenada it is!! Isn't hydrogen peroxide the stuff you bleach your hair with??!!

yer but no but I tried this on my horse before last stressage comp, admitedly it did smell a lot like saline, admitedly most of it didnt actually make it into the horse's mouth, but then we had a really good day and got much higher marks than usual. Not a scientific controlled experiment I agree but then again.....
