I'm considering spending (wasting) some time developing an equine app for my (and anyone else's) Android phones.

It's going to have such things tools such as:
* weight estimator - you enter girth and length in cm/inches and get results in kg/lbs etc
* height calculator - you enter height in cms/inches and it tells you the hands
* it will also track all this in a database automatically (i'm thinking) so you have a record of it.
* was thinking of a worming/vaccinations log that links to your phones calendar to give you reminders to buy/arrange and administer
* maybe links to other apps that can track your hacks and show you OS maps for the area you are in.

Does anyone who has an android phone think this would be useful?
Would you pay for it? (not that i'm thinking of charging, might do ad supported or something)
What other 'tools' do you think would be useful?
 
I have one on my I pod it's called equestrius, it keeps track of shoeing, jabs, weight, dentist, worming and allsorts. I paid £1.79 for it I think it doesn't do the os map thingy tho :D
 
I'd definitely buy that for my android phone if it had enough tools :)

There's already a free weight estimater, but if you could combine weight estimation with a diary/reminder service for worming, vaccinations, farrier and dentist as you suggest it'd be class, maybe along with a dedicated phonebook - I'm desparate for forgetting names of horsey people and then I have to go through the entire phonebook to jog my memory, and I have hundreds of contacts in it owing to work.

Also, maybe some sort of GPS-activated phonebook search for local equine professionals? Could this be acheived through some sort of search portal in conjunction with the yellow pages (or golden pages or eircom phonebook over here) online services? So that in an emergency if you're out of your local area, you could still find equine care?
 
sounds like an AMAZING idea!
What I'd really like is an app that reads dressage tests out to you. I suppose I could record it myself, but it'd be nice to have all the BD tests in audio so that I can practice them on my own. You could change the timings between commands depending on the size of the horse.
