Hello,

I don't know if this post will just get lost in the ether but here goes...

I'm really struggling to find anywhere near me that does group riding lessons for adults with horses that aren't totally dull to the touch (this feels like a tall order). Does anyone know of anywhere in the Hertfordshire area that I could learn? I used to have lessons as a child so I'm rusty but not totally clueless.

I'm a bit stuck knowing how to re-enter the equestrian world if I can't find somewhere to learn because my knowledge/experience/skill is not currently good enough to loan or share so I don't know what other options are available to me.

I know many riding schools have had to shut in recent years as it's just not cost effective. All the schools I used to ride at have now shut down or changed purpose! I'm feeling a bit sad about it all to be honest.

If there's anyone out there that has any ideas or knows of anywhere good in Herts area - please do let me know?

I'd really like 2024 to be the year I get back to my passion for horses after so many years being unable to ride!

Thank you

Have you thought about private lessons rather than group lessons? When I started back after a 30 year break, I did 30 min or hour private lessons. I added an adult group lesson earlier this year

Yes I would consider, especially at the start. But i'd also like the community aspect of learning with others and also being able to see how the instructor coaches others in the group as I always learnt a lot from that! And so far i've just found stables that only do private lessons.

Where abouts in Herts? I can recommend lots of places but Herts is a big area!

Agreed, I should have been more specific - whoops! I'm in Hitchin/Letchworth area.

Contessa is in Ware. Not been there for lessons personally, but have heard good things about it in the past - don't know though if it is still offering lessons.

Barrington? (South Cambs Equestrian Centre) Not a million miles from you but over into Cambridgeshire, but pretty straight forward to get to from Hitchin/Letchworth.
