Adult horse training camps- recommendations please!

Hi guys, me and a friend are on the lookout for a training camp to attend this summer (the 'take our own horses, have jump/flat training and then laugh at our misdemeanours whilst drinking cheap prosecco in the evening' type 😂) . We're based in Suffolk and are happy to travel for a couple of hours. Keysoe looks fab, am waiting to hear about availability for that. But just wondered if anyone knew of any other centres that offered this sort of thing?
 
I keep seeing adverts for Nikki crisp dressage camps in Newmarket on my Facebook. But annoying when I live the other side of the country! Might be too dressage focused for what you want?
 
I'm booked on the Keysoe one at end of May - never been before so can't comment.

Previously been on Eland Lodge's camps (Derbyshire so not sure if too far) for the last 5 years and can highly recommend them.
 
Active rider and Bobbie's horse camps both at Somerford Park Farm. Good training with good facilities very good social side in the evenings. They fill up very quickly but there are already spaces becoming available for both. I have friends that have done these and love them.
Eland lodge as mentioned above
Cricklands do a long weekend of training but only jumping and probably too far for you.
Victoria Herford also runs camps at Somerford as does David Lawson
 
The Keysoe one is nice, good facilities and range of activities. I've been to the Adult Training Camps one there a couple of times.

A few RCs organise ones too and I know that Stevenage RC have one in April at Milton Keynes.

I've seen Nikki Crisp and NSJ ones advertised on facebook but not used either of them.

I also think BD arrange ones that people really like but obv dressage focussed.

I'm a bit further north than you so not aware of any that are closer to your area though.
 
I've done the Keysoe camp, the instruction was really good, had different instructors for each session and all of a very high standard. However the food wasn't great and not really enough - people with later sessions in the morning were asked to have breakfast after the early people at which point there was not much left and I found a little pettiness with some of the rules. They are also midweek which doesn't suit everyone.

There are a few instructors round here who do camps at Milton Keynes which has great facilities but it is very dependent on you getting on with the instructor as you just have one person. However being smaller can be more friendly and intimate than the big Keysoe ones. Catering is better too. These are often at the weekend which is good if you can't get away in the week.

There used to be one run by BHS east at Forest edge but not been on it myself.
 
Sorry nothing useful to add. I would like to go on one of these but I hate camping and use a trailer so don't have any 'living' space. I think thats what's stopped me ever going as am middle aged and don't want to sleep in a tent any more.

I downsized to a 3.5 with no living, I too prefer my 'camping' area to have a bed, heating, curtains, an ensuite would be great, plug points essential, as also 2 good meals - 1 at each end of the day :) so that's my box discounted then....

Ideally I'd like somewhere that doesn't involve a drive of more than a couple of hours from my patch nr M25/M3 :)

Oh, and warmer time of year than April! Totally impossible to find something here in the SE (apart from an RC camp I've managed to gatecrash for a couple of years in the summer, that has all my requirements :D )
 
Eland Lodge. They do different ones. Instructors all been good, as have the additional activities. Food is excellent and plentiful. Stables are temp ones but okay. Good mahoosive school and good cross country set up. People are nice. Been a few times. First time we shared a tent with a friend, which was a hoot. Second a friend lent me her 7.5tonne with living, and I think another time was a tent again. Hot showers in the block. Plenty of loos. Cafe and shop on site. Village a mile or so down the road.
 
I have been to a couple of really good ones at Poplar Park. You can either camp or B&B in the house there which we have done. Going to one at Milton Keynes EC with a riding club in April, again has B&Bs really close by if preferred.

Hah, never fear - no need for camping at a camp! I draw the line there. I've been 3 times and each time we've stayed at a local BnB or self catering place. Obv makes it more expensive but hey if it's got a warm bed, hot shower, kitchen facilities, then I'm all for it. Easier if you have a trailer ofc but, even this year, when I'm going on my own with my 3.9t I've found an airbnb which has parking for my lorry. Whoop.
 
I'm doing the Keysoe camp for the third year running this year but they do get booked up early as they are very good value for money. Milton Keynes Equestrian Centre run camps or if there is a group of you it's possible to arrange your own camp there. The BHS run camps at Forest Edge for members.
 
Tendring hundred riding club have got a camp at Sharon Hunts with a trip to Herringswell Xc in August and spaces on a day at Waresley stud with Nick Turner in April. Been on several and always well run and great fun. Details on web site
