I've got a 14.2 cob with quite a lot of bone. He carries me easily which isn't the problem but the length of my legs is! Normally I ride in a jump saddle which is fine in terms if leg position but now I've got a dressage saddle as we wanted to start some competing. After trying it tonight find that it quite hard to get my leg on as its hanging just below his belly.
The question is does anyone else have a similar problem and how do they ride effectively/ put your leg on? I'm going to get some lessons but wondered if anyone has any ideas?

I have the same issue with my 14.3hh cobbie, you just have to use your calf as opposed to your heel which can be tricky to start with but you get used to it! If your legs are too long and you still try and use your heels you end up tipping yourself off balance!

You'll end up with legs like a body builder because when you're using your calf muscles you have to press twice as hard! :)

*waves* hello long time no see!

Try swan neck spurs, dh used to dressage on a cob, he's 6ft2 cob was 15.1hh the spurs meant he wasn't tempted to lift his heel. Think there is a picture of them showing in my albums

Helloooo to you too! The saddle has improved my position no end so will try the leg wrapping and spurs! Thanks everyone.

This^^. My 5'10" friend rides my 13.2 (square) cob at dressage and uses swan neck spurs. Be aware though, swan necks are not 'legal' for use at Riding Club competitions, but they are ok to be used at BD.
