My husband wants to learn to ride with the ambition to show jump our baby sport horse in the future.
Don't know any good riding schools for adults in the Halifax area so any recommendations would be gratefully received. Thanks

How far are you prepared to travel? Tong riding school in Bradford is good, and isn't that far from Halifax.

Another vote for Acrecliffe, I take my boy over there for side saddle lessons and know some of the instructors.

They treat adults like adults and not extra-large child pupils :)

Wilsden equestrian centre is good... I used to work there a few years back x

Was going to say rode there with the Leeds uni riding club for 18 months and it wasn't worth the money. Instructor would chat to someone else for the majority of the lesson whilst we rode round in circles. Also was NOT impressed when we were practising canter to halt. I used to ride a very sweet 6y/o who would've been a lovely RC pony had someone put in the effort. Poor lad had no idea what I was asking him to do as I doubt he'd ever even done trot-halt. Instructor got her daughter on who got him to halt by simply pulling as hard on the reins as she could...

I rode at Back Lane stables in Farnley, on the edge of Leeds for a while, quite liked it there.

I actually preferred Middleton Equestrian Centre than Acrecliffe but I had already been riding for a long time before trying either.

Might be different experience if starting from scratch though but it gives you another place to consider!
