Hey chaps - Iam an adult with a 14.2 NFx, he's 4. I bought him so I could have fun with, boost my confidence and take part in little shows. What can I/can't I do in terms of showing/eventing/jumping etc? Do you have to be a certain age/height for these things?

most of the time there are age limits on pony classes (show jumping anyway) but a lot of riding clubs will let you jump a pony in horse classes as long as the pony isnt competing in pony classes as well & i think BSJA allows ponies in horse classes as well

have 14.2 do everything, not yet had a restriction to stop me doing anything! def no age limits round here

BSJA will register ponies as horses for seniors to ride.

Whenever my daughter has doen unaff Mountain & Moorland showing she's always been against adults as well as children in the class, sometimes they award a junior prize as well as a class prize. For jumping unaff there are sometiems age restrictions on the 'baby' classes under 2ft 3, they're often restricted to under 12 or under 16, but 2ft3+ usually allow adults or over 16s regardless of size of pony/horse

What level do you want to compete at?

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but can I just say I love the pic at the end of your sig and HOW BIG is the coloured horse you're holding?! Unless you're very small, in which case I apologise.

if u only want to do small shows dont waste your money on the bsja!!I have a 14.2 and i do a bit of bsja (seniors ) and BE, but just as much unaffiliated stuff sometimes classes are split into different age categories but thats it. no reason why not to get a pony
