Adults owning small ponies.

I'm well over 50, 5'7" and moved down to my lovely Heidi, 14.1 of fun, from a 15.2 ISH hunter mare...best thing I ever did! I always preferred ponies to horses and wouldn't swap her for the world, and my 12 year old daughter is now competing her for me!

My pony is 12.3hh, breeding unknown but likely New Forest or a Newfy cross. I bought him as a weeny foal, expecting him to make a chunky 13.2hh but given as he's just turned 5 and is still built like a miniature racehorse, I guess that's not happening :p No bother though as I backed him last year and really enjoy riding him. He carries me well and we're going to have lots of fun together.

Because I am fairly small I had always ridden all the naughty ponies at riding schools. Loved them.

I ended up buying a 15 hh arab. Not at all big but not 13.2 either! I really did feel like I was riding a giant for ages, even though every other horse at the yard towered over mine!

I know what you mean, I love ponies and I love my hairy Arab in winter when he looks more like one...

My mare is 13.3 and fab. We had a lesson this morning and we all swapped multiple times, she was ridden by kids and adults and was as good as gold. I think she's perfect.

My fatty fully clipped unrugged bundle of attitude mare 14.1hh welsh x hackney. She is such a 1 person horse I genuinely think it would break her to be sold. Love her to pieces trying to persuade her cantering and jumping is fun, totally not what you would expect from her breeding.
