Adults who ride Ponies

I've got a 14.2hh Welsh D and I am 5ft5 and 8.3st...it's no prob for her or me. When my trainer gets on her(5ft10)he looks fine, too, and she goes well for him!
I have a friend( yes, really) who is teeny and she rides her son's 13hh...but she is really child-sized!
So...depends on weight carrying ability of pony and size/riding ability of rider...for example, I used to get on my son's evil little welsh B(one of those saints ON the LR and devils off it), 12hh and sort it out...it certainly did not have any prob carrying me as I ride light( I am told)..only thing that p***** her off was that she could not buck me off because I wrapped my legs right round and all the way back again. Boy, did she get mad!!

I should add that until 2005, I had done everything(hunt/show,sj/BE) on a 17.3hh ID/TB cross...now , I think I did sometimes look like a doll on a mountain....Fortunately he was the most utter gentleman.

I thought I'd replied to this! Mine is a 12hh and a smidgen Exmoor. He could cart off with me anytime he wished and certainly hasn't shown any signs of me being too big for him (I'm 5'5" and about 9.5-10 stone, depending on season!). This is us on a pleasure ride (where I had a hell of a time trying to control the little bugger!).

p.s. I'm 31 and our hacking record is 5hrs, 20 mins, at the end of which he cantered up a hill without me asking and I couldn't walk properly for a couple of days!!

A friend raced a 12.2hh, shes 5ft9 (ish) and about 10 stone AND WON!
