So yesterday me and Arlo, my 4 year Welsh cob, had our first trip to the beach! I was terrified but glad we did it. He stomped straight up the ramp of the lorry and loaded perfectly with just slight confusion of where his head should go! He soon got the idea and we head on our way, he travelled well, a bit hot on arrival but calm off the ramp and a dream to tack up and mount, which I was super chuffed with as some of you know we have had some mounting issues!

We head off down to the sand and went straight in for a paddle which he wasn't 100% sure of at first but was very brave and was the first in! We had a nice paddle then we proceeded to have a stroll down the beach and a nice steady canter back. Did a little bit of trot work away from the others and then we all went up the beach for one last 'steady' canter which became not so steady. Rather grateful for my holy sh$t strap at that point because the little guy can shift! Came back nice and easy though and seemed to enjoy himself, posing for a group picture afterwards. He loaded and travelled back like a dream, can't wait to get out for more little trips.

Thank you, went and had our second flatwork lesson tonight also at a local yard and he was amazing! The difference just in one session was incredible. I just want this summer for him to be able to walk trot and canter confidently on each rein.
