How does this sound? Any changes you would make?

Beautiful 15hh for long term loan

Beautiful 15hh,10yo, dark bay mare for long term loan.
Suitable for hacking and light schooling.
Excellent in the heaviest of traffic- cows, tractors, buses etc!
Hacks alone and in company, never gets strong. Never bucks/rears/bolts.
Forward going but safe.
Rider must be maximum 9st.
Good to clip/catch/load. Currently having issues being shod due to recent bad experience, but I am very confident she will overcome this with time and patience.
Happy to live in or out, fine with other horses/ alone for short periods.
Looking for a kind and experienced home within approx 70 mile radius of Nottingham. To the best home only.
Please ring Amy on XXX for more details.

What photo/s would you use? Bear in mind she is only suitable for hacking/light schooling.

Where would you recommend advertising her?
This is so hard

Loaning her because I am too big for her and she's not suitable for what I want to do anymore

. Maybe I should clarify that it is only occasional light schooling.. should I put about lameness probs in there or should I explain over the phone?
Should I put why I am loaning her in the ad?

I'd definitly use 1 for a conformation shot and 2 for her being safe in an open space alone. I'd possibly use 6 aswell purely because it shows the markings on her face and her lovely honest eye.

Good luck, I'm sure she'll be snapped up

Firstly, I genuinely wish the best for you both, but I am concerned about you advertising her for any kind of working loan, given her recent history of lameness - As I understand it, for quite dome time now, she has been unable to do much work at all, of any level.

I don't think that it is fair on the loaner to make such a financial commitment that loaning requires, when you negate this fact from your advert; it's going to put them in a difficult position the next time that she goes lame, which seems pretty inevitable atm

If you really want to give her a long term loan home, then I would wait until you are some time into her having consistently coping in the low level of work that you suggest that she is capable of, before you subject anyone else to the heartbreak and financial burden that a long term unsound horse brings...

Ok, yes, you are too tall for her, but you most certainly aren't over her weight ability, and you ARE capable of testing this out. It really would be the most responsible thing to do.

That aside, and with regards to your advert:

1) I think that you should limit her to hacking, not schooling - that can be as trying as anything with lameness, and as I understand it, you don't actually know why she is lame...?

2) I think you need to state she is sometimes a little tricky to catch

3) Where do you get 9st from? Is that your vet's recommendation? Only I am thinking she may be capable of a touch more - which as a hack would make her more useful.

4) Definitely don't use jumping or schooling pics for a light hack, you will attract the wrong types.

Good luck. xx

I think Puppy is right - I have to say I always find horses advertised for "hacking only" a little mystifying. I know when I go out hacking I like to roam around over all sorts of terrain and go for a few good canters - would she actually stand up to that because if she can only cope with walking and a bit of a trot every now and then, then she isn't really useable for hacking? You may find someone wanting a very quiet horse to just wander about on but I think it would be pretty difficult.

I don't know her situation in depth, but if it is as Puppy says and she is likely to go lame again at any point, I'm not sure you can loan her on that basis at the moment.

I also think you're limiting yourself unnecessarily with the weight limit - if its vet advice then fair enough, but if you upped the limit to 10 stone, that really isn't a great amount with a balanced rider.

re. pictures, I would use the first one, and the one of her standing in the water - not the jumping ones as she can't jump anymore.

Good luck, its obviously a very difficult situation so I hope it works out for you

agree with the weight - i mean i weigh just over 10 stone and my horse is a lightweight 14.2 and doesnt struggle, Im by no means big or heavy, in fact im 5ft5 and a size 10 so you really are limiting yourself to kids or very lightweight riders!! shes beautiful, really sweet looking

first pic though she looks about 13hh - are u standing on something!lol!good luck with it, i know what a heartbreaking decision it can be - i used horsequest and got a great response and its not too expensive - also try www.equineadverts.co.uk which is free and lots of loan horses x

Puppy, will pm you

xspiralx- oh no she's perfectly suitable for walk, trot, canter and a decent amount of it... she's 100% sound in a straight line, just on a circle on a deep surface she isn't 100%. Will have a rethink about the weight limit and have a word with my vet about it.

Suzie86- she is 15hh at the withers!! Nope not standing on anything, but you see why I am too tall for her
