i've just seen an ad and it made me cringe (for quite a few reasons!), so i thought i would share!
Advert that made me cringe!

When i saw her standing on her horses back all i could think was, how do people do that, and what if the horse walks off?! This is probably me being woosy, as usual, but, i have to agree, a little bit cringy!!

The people standing on his back.

Just opened the link and got a stereo "Oh god" from OH and I

must admit Im not keen on the pic but he does look a nice sort and he sounds like he would be an easy to do chap. (if he is what they say) Can a young stallion really be like that?

For me it's the pictures. Personally it's a big turn off when I see someone trying to sell a horse and doing 'stunts' on them or riding without a hat on - even worse, putting a child on without a hat on.

Might not be cringe worthy to everyone, but it is for me.

What's happened to the forum? Everyone normally absolutely slates any advert involving someone stood on a horse!!! I hope everyone realises that the OP was cringing at the 'antics' rather than the actual horse....

ok, i'll share what made me cringe/caused concern with you all.
the photos for starters, standing on a horses back like that - a stallions - they are youngsters, and i dare say were messing about, not good IMO. (guilty of messing about when i was younger though but not with a young horse!) The one with a rider on without a hat - she is again only young, and he is a stallion....
the advert implies a lot that these youngsters (11 and 12) are riding and doing most of the jobs with the horse, leading him though a field full of mares...... a stallion, 15.3, just learning what his bits are for, come on, no matter what, that is not something that someone should be doing! they are risking the stallion, handler and mares!
the comment ''Could geld but seems a bit pointless as he''''''''''''''''s so quiet.' well, many thoughts here! why would you want to breed to unpapered (and def ungraded!) stallions... then there is the fact that no matter what a 'good life' a stallion has, he will have to be treated as a stallion, therefore, he cannot have mixed turnout etc, he would have a better life as a gelding knowing how the uk treats stallions (you know, the OMG its a stallion, cant be on most livery yards, etc etc etc)

seriously, stallions are stallions no matter what, and this advert implies that he is like a rocking horse to handle! hey, why not let a 1st time young horse owner go and buy him..... i would bet money that there would be some incident in the first few months if not weeks.

ps - some stallions, yes i know can be saints, but they are stallions, and need to be respected for that fact.

ETA - its not the actual horse i am concerned about, its the way it is advertised, who may end up buying it and whats going on with the photos!

I must confess to not reading the description, I got as far as seeing it was a 4yr old stallion and the accompanying pictures and did what I would have done had I been looking to buy - clicked the back button.

i actually quite like the look of the horse.

The pictures are a bit odd but if the horse is what he is described as he could make someone a lovely little horse.

I dont get why people like to pick fault with other peoples adverts - if you dont like it move on - others will like it, and will see beyond the silly pictures and hopefully that little horse will end up in a nice home.

I totally agree with saddlesore Let's be honest, he hasn't done anything to prove he is stallion worthy, the poor little chap is only 4 and he has kids without hats standing on him?!! Way to go parent of the year.

If no-one has a problem with this then I seriously suggest that they read the fugly horse of the day blog. This will explain everything that is wrong with this - namely this particular post...

http://fuglyhorseoftheday.blogspot.com/2008/10/i-know-youre-kid-but-where-are-your.html

Im not saying i agree to what is in the ad - why stand on a horses back and let kids on it without hats - i dont get it either.

My point was that if the right person bought this horse, gelded it and treated it like a horse rather that a performing circus animal it could be a lovely little horse.

I thought the same then noticed ONE person in ONE photo is not wearing a hat...roll out the HHO anti-no-hat-wearing-hating-unsafety-madness-of-some-people-they-deserve-brain-damage brigade.

I agree re the fact he should not be kept as a stallion as he should definitely not be bred from. But i don't agree that it's unsafe for a young person to handle a stallion, not all stallions are dangerous horny devils, some never get stallion tendancys especially if they are handled correctly from a young age.

He seems like a nice boy who would make a great young riders horse, shame he's not papered really.

I agree....don't like the stunts, I wouldnt put my kid on a horse without a hat, (kid, not horse!

) but then they'rt not my kids....
But I actually like the horse, and I would go and have a look-see...nothing to lose....but I would have him gelded.

JMO.....some people are just crap at adverts, doesnt mean the horse isnt worth a look at.....
