Hello! Hope I am not breaking any advertising rules but just want some advice on wording to use when advertising a horse for share.

Basically I am going abroad for 8 months and my horse will stay at his current yard and be looked after by my sister (who also has a horse). She won't have time to ride both of them, and mine could really do with being exercised, as in the summer he tends to pile on the pounds, and he loves the attention!

Do you think it unreasonable to advertise him for someone who would like to ride a few times a week/or as much as they like really, in return for say £15-20 a week to go towards livery costs?

They wouldn't have to be fully responsible for him, as in stable duties, but maybe could negotiate that? April - Oct they live out 24/7 so literally would involve riding, grooming, maybe clean his tack occasionally, just have a bit of fun with him.

Bit concerned about having a load of joy riders ring up.....what can I say to put them off!

I wouldn't be too concerned about joy riders. I've been trying to find a sharer for my little pony. Asking for a tenner a week and they can come up daily or just on weekends. Been looking for about 6 weeks and not had so much as a phone call :(

Sounds like a reasonable deal to me!

I think the best way to find a sharer is on recommendation - have you asked your instuctor/friends/fellow liveries if you're on livery etc? This is how I got my share horses and I think (I hope!) they were happy with me :)

My friend posted an advert on www.nfed.co.uk and got loads of replies :D she found a lovely sharer for her horse, the share has been going strong for more than 6 months now and has been very successful.

I shall be placing an advert on this website in a few weeks, as I will need a sharer this summer.
