what makes a good advert?

1. what should i sell my pony as, he is a x-country machine, scope to make a top showjumper (jumped 1.45) and does a resonable dressage so i was thinking eventer? someone suggested a hunting pony however he has never been on a hunt so bad idea? however he has only been very lightly competed in showjumping (mainly unaffil, BSJA upto discovery - BSJA only about 5 times), dressage (unaffil) and done 4 hunter trails this season.

2. what kind of pictures are best and how many?
 
If he's not evented then I wouldn't sell him as an eventer - potential eventer maybe, but I would probably emphasize on his scope jumping and potential over XC. I would include photo's of XC, SJ and dressage and possibly one without tack to show his conformation? In regards to the hunting, I definitely wouldn't sell him as a hunter if he has never been, unless you plan on taking him to a hunt before you sell just to see how he behaves and this can be used as another strength?

well he has done quite a few pc one day events this year and in the top ten 3/4 but other than that he has not done much and i dont really have the bravery to go hunting :/ ahha
 
I wouldnt sell him as anything you dont know he is

For example, he may be good at XC, SJ and dressage but if you havent evented him I wouldnt sell him as an eventer as although he can do all three things separately it doesnt mean he could do them all in one frenetic day

Words like 'potential Eventer' dont always work either as they are effectively meaningless unless the price tag is suitably low

I'd sell it as a good sound allrounder for a competative rider maybe using words to indicate that you think they have the aptitude and stamina for eventing without using cliches

In an ideal world as a buyer I would expect to see a flatwork pic showing a good outline, a jumping pic, a pic from the side without tack and a lighter hearted pic such as a face shot over a stable door just to add a bit of personality, if he is a snaffle mouth then make sure the bridle in the pics show a snaffle

Well in that case why don't you advertise him as a good PC pony? They are worth their weight in gold if he is experienced, well mannered and knows the ropes.
