Just to let you all know, the pony is fine now.
I think it was just a change of scenery that she needed to settle down to.
She is now eating and drinking as usual and we have now found a feed she will eat. It was the sugarbeet that she didn't like!!! Rang the emergency vet and she said to syringe a salt solution into her mouth to encourage her to drink. This worked
The vet said there would be no point her coming out on an emergency (this was sat evening) as there would be nothing she could do as the pony was eating/drinking some things, just a very very very small quantity - not enough as we'd like!!!!
The vet will be coming out tomorrow as she needs her injections anyway but there is nothing to worry aboutShe has settled down now and is happy
She has not been hard feeded before or stabled so perhaps this disorientated her a little
We are still trying to encourage her to increase her food intake but I'm sure this will all come with time
Only nice replies pleaseThere is no point upsetting someone over the internet just to get a kick out of it
I don't say nasty things to anyone else so I really don't see how I deserve unkind/rude/judgemental replies
you would not like it if it was done to you
I am trying to use this forum to assist me with any queries I have in general... I clearly made a mistake by involving a genuine "real life" case and in future I will ONLY post general posts which don't identify me/my friend's choices/situations in any way.
Completely a mistake on my part to think a forum would be kind![]()

Yeah, you sound like you really took the advice, and you're vet sounds a peach too.
Poor pony
Oh what a total load of rubbish!
So sorry OP, but NO ONE was originally rude on this thread, they simply suggested you get the vet.
Read the original post back. What did you THINK people would say?? 'Oh that's all totally normal behaviour, whack another rug on and carry on as you are?'
Get real! Why ask for advice if when anyone says something you don't agree with, you just have a strop?
There are some very knowledgable people on here who have given you some good advice.
Quite honestly now......what did you EXPECT people to say!?
.
Please get insurance so if something does go wrong, you have the reassurance that you can claim against it. If you can't afford a vets fee for a visit in the nicest way possible maybe you can't afford a horse and consider sharing until your situation changes.
Exactly!!
Pmsl at the "vet says there is no point coming out as there's nothing they can do".![]()
What????!!! Shocking suggestion!!!! A horse AND insurance... That you pay for???!!! Never heard something so ludicrous in my life:eek QUOTE]
I am SO sorry for causing ANY offense, please dont insure your horse. Horses never go wrong or break legs or get sick, what do vets know anyway!!
Personally I get a horse whisperer to talk to mine, he tells her where it hurts and I get the calpol out, all fixed now!!
