advice and reassurance needed!!!!

my horse was kicked today in the field today, he's been cut on his lower left front leg, the wound is about an inch and a half long and about 2mm deep. I cleaned it with hibiscrub and gave it a good spray with terramycin (blue spray from vet) however i didnt get the vet out to him. I havent dressed it and he is going to be kept in for the next few days. He's weight bearing on it and seems to be good in himself, actually enjoying all the extra attention!

Have I done the right thing?

You dont say if hes lame or swollen ?
Why are you keeping him in if he looks well in himself ?
If hes not lame or swollen and its not bleeding id put some yellow summer fly ointment around the area with your terramycin spray on the wound and put him out so the leg didnt swell up from standing in.
