So it has been 3 weeks and 2days now since I broke mine - I have been riding for a week and jumped last night without any pain. It only hurts if I lift my arm up high or across but just muscle pain.

So have a hunter trial Sunday (PN height) to prepare for PN at Munstead the Sunday after, am I mad?!!

You are stark raving bonkers! I have broken my left one twice in two different places 12 years ago and 4 years ago - and neither time did I HACK until the 6 weeks was up - yet on bad days I struggle to change gear in the car! Dont push your luck please- take care of it - please - I so wish that I didnt have so much shoulder pain.

You are a bit daft I have to admit - I've broken mine twice now and both times, although I was riding after 3 weeks, I wasn't up to much seriously for 6-8 weeks. I wouldn't want to jeopardise the repair for the sake of one comp though - I have probs with mine in the winter as it is! You have to look after yourself, as once you have done it there's no turning back the clock and saying 'I wish I'd waited'. There wil be another HT, honest!

What if you had someone fretening to sell your horses if you didnt do it!!! Then what!?!

I did have laser treatment on it twice at a private physio's

Why would someone threaten to sell your horse if you don't compete because you have broken a bone. That's awful.

My daughter broke her collar bone - she was hacking a bit at 3 weeks - but didn't do any jumping till this week - it is six weeks this Saturday. Mind you she has had no pain for three weeks.

Well I spose it isnt broken anymore is it. It will be pretty much 4 weeks on Sunday

I was hacking within 2 weeks and hunting within a month but I had mine plated so it was immobile. For some mad reason I decided to take a year's worth of deep litter out of my stable after 1 week and that really isn't recommended! Regarding the HT how much does the horse pull?

I am sorry but the advice we were given at the hospital is that a break takes a minimum of six weeks to repair and she shouldn't ride till then. The doctor also said he would avoid any strenuous riding for a lot longer.

Well I rode in a ptp 3 weeks after breaking mine and fell on it again! was still ok(ish) and is fine now. I broke the other one really badly and couldn't ride for months so I would say go with how you feel.

Go with how you feel but remember it hasnt completely mended. If your horse pulls hard you may have control issues and could put your horse at risk
