Just bought a lovely welsh x cob yearling and wondering what is best in the way of a feeding regime for him.
He has comes to me having been on 1 scoop of pony nuts at night with ad lib haylage and then been turned out during the day. This he has had for only 3 weeks as before that he was running with lots of yearlings and I guess he had no feed, just turn out. I have little experience of a boy this young and want to do the best by him and wonder what anyone else does/has done.
I want him on the correct feed if he is to have any, as surely pony nuts won't have all the extra vits/mins etc he needs as he grows? I have read up on ocd and phytisis and HOPE I have stopped that in time. He is now out 24/7 on good pasture with a small feed of Baileys youngstock mix. I'd love to hear what advice you can give me..... thanks !

my yearling is getting Winergy equilibrium growth as she is a big filly and needed a bit of weight she also gets fast fibre before she got the equilibrium growth she was getting suregrow which is a stud balancer with all the nutrients he will need

Have a look at D & H Suregrow, it's very good and if you need any extra help, all the feed firms have one and are only too happy to help. They don't always only recommend their own products either. Because he's a cob, I'd be wary of feeding a full stud feed in case you over top him but Suregrow is a small pellet complete balancer that you feed very little of which is meant for growing youngsters. It's done an excellent job on mine, I couldn't be more pleased (and they're cob crosses!)
