Advice for feral horse?

Sorry, your responses have been helpful - I was just trying to deal with many at a time. I have decided that this probably isn't the type of online community that I will turn to again for advice, but thank you for yours, it has confirmed what I was already hoping to do and therefore made me feel less inadequate than previous replies have :)
Good luck with him, once you have him catchable he will come round very quickly I am sure. (Unless he was hand reared when it may be a lot harder). Dont feel inadequate- everyone was a beginner once!

And they didnt buy an unhandled horse, dump it in a field and leave it for 6 months with no adequate care. This horse cant have had his feet done in all that time, neither horse has been wormed.

This horse hasnt been rescued to live a better life. An idiot has bought him who thinks she can bond with him and he will love her. What will happen is she wont be able to handle him as hes loose in a field, so shes throwing treats at him to bond with him.

When she realises she cant actually do this he will get dumped back out in the field and left there with the minimum of care until it becomes too expensive or time consuming, then he will be dumped on the next mug.

Hi, as I've previously mentioned I would like to leave the situation and I really don't need anymore of these types of comments. Please can we just stop as I'm a new member unsure of how to delete the post to prevent these types of messages coming to me so I would appreciate if everyone just left it now

You cant delete the post. If you dont want to read the responses then log out. I think it is very important that any other idiots thinking about "rescuing" a pony know what the realities are.

I am working on this. The people that you're referring to can research that topic themselves - I do not need to be verbally attacked and made to feel worthless for others to learn

For what it’s worth- he’ll probably never come right.
I have a pony that at some point in his short life was treated very badly- he hasn’t or won’t forget it. I’ve owned him for 5 years, & he’ll tolerate minimal contact by me & me only. Twice a year he’s heavily sedated for a good foot trim, teeth and vet check. He’ll reluctantly let me run a rasp round his feet but we have to have an argument about it first & it usually takes me an hour to do. I would not under any circumstances even think about riding him or doing anything more than him just being a companion (he’s a great one for our foals!)
Once it’s imprinted in them, it’s hard to teach them differently. I, personally, wouldn’t have high ambitions for him. It never works out like it does in the films unfortunately!

Yes and that research could well include this post. And you seem to think theres no issue with what you've done and it will all be fine once you "bond" It wont. I dont care if you dont like me or what I say, if it makes you rethink the way you care for these animals and what you do next with them.

You sound lovely - as I've said I'm no longer interested in discussing the issue and I respect you have your opinion, please leave it now!
