mormning 1st question
has anybody eles horse colciked post worming with equest paramox , we wormed on thursday and then yesterday one of my horses colicked very watery diarhea , more settled this morning and no signs of colic .

also posted the other day re swelling on horses head after playing out in field, vets came examined , felt fluidy and slightly warm to touch , possible haemotoma or poss infection but said didnt wasnt concened it was infected, covered with abs and bute for 3 days , there are tiny grazes around swelling but not deep, however yesterday and this am , the swelling is really warm and not going down any ? any advice ? xx:(

Horses do sometimes colic a little after worming - with any product.

Can't offer much on the swelling other that to say call the vit if you are worried. I don't think I would like any swelling on my lad's heads!

My mums horse hit the top of her head on her stable & it didn't go down for ages. I'm not sure if it was fluidy though or just a hard bump.. Will ask her for you.

Re: worming - yes, one of my girls has colicked on EP. It's happened twice now and never with any other product, so now I don't use it on her. As has been said, it can happen with any of them, but for me that's a pattern and for her not worth the risk. The other one is fine on it.

Re: swelling - can you take a picture and text it to your vet? If they've seen it, they'll be better placed to offer advice than anyone here :-)

usually means there were worms present, so i would rather use a wormer that worked, as horses can get colic from worm burdens anyway, so either way you gotta be careful.

My mare had colic with pramox and vet said never to use it on her again and in future to worm her in 2 stages once just for take worm and one broad spectrum one. I have never had a problem with any other wormer before or since and she is 20 years old.
