*Advice Needed* Bringing horse(s) to university?

Hi James if your in a position to leave them behind I would but if leaving them with parents/friend isn't possible and you can't cope with alternative then it's very much doable. I'm on a 9-5 course and on a very tight budget so it's diy but I manage it does mean my boy is virtually turned away some of the time but no evidence he minds! It's nice to be forced to be outside whatever the weather and most of the time I'm very glad to have him with me.

I've just done my second year of a biology degree and brought my horse with me (brought her up after the first month so that I could settle and enjoy freshers week and settle in etc during first year) she's on assisted DIY with the option to be on full livery on the odd days when I can't get to the yard due to uni comitents, not going to pretend that it isn't a massive commitment and that I don't occasionally have to sacrifice something (usually sleep!) but it is do-able and I personally wouldn't have had it any other way. Depending on how far away from home the uni is and what you'll do with your horse during holidays needs to be factored in too

I'm currently loaning a horse. His owner took him to uni first year, but found it a strain physically & financially. Ive got him for 2 years now until she graduates.
It is possible to take your horse with you, but you may find you are able to enjoy the experience more without.
