Hi
I havent posted for a long while but am in need of some advice please. I came back from USA saturday and ever since my border collie, who is 2 years old, hasnt stopped sneezing. my mum looked after him for the week and said he only started the second i got back??
I'm a real worrier about him anyway as he has Auto Immune Poly Arthritis and the vet is expecting a relapse so i always watch him like a hawk. The sneezing was quite a bit to start, say 5 or 6 in row and it has got better , he only sneezes when he runs about now but im still concerned. Ive read that it could be an infection in his tooth? Which i am leaning towards as the vet did say that he had a bit of Gingervitis (sp) and he does have really bad breath. The other thing that I have noticed is that he isnt eating his food as fast as normal. Usually he gobbles it up and now I would say he is taking x10 times longer to eat, he still runs in for it though. He is booked into see the vet tomorrow first thing but I cant help stressing all day, im in work but will be checking him at lunch. He is 90% himself, wants to play ball etc (so much so he gave himself a carpet burn and his paw wouldnt stop bleeding!!) but a little down. My mum feeds him twice as much as what i do and he has put on weight this week I'm not sure whether that has affected him?
I also better mention is that when we were away i was playing with a little puppy at a ranch and the guy told me afterwards that the puppies brother was really ill and they suspected Parvo as they dont inject them. I am panicking that I have brought back an infection and given it to my collie, this was the first day of the holiday though and when i got back I literally boiled our clothes in the washing machine and my collie didnt come into contact with them. He isnt up to date with his vaccinations as the senior vet strongly advised against as he believes his auto immune disease would relapse if he has injections. This does go against the way I am normally with my animals as they are always up to date but i just wanted to follow the Vets advise.
My other dog is absolutely fine.
Do you think i should take him to the vet today instead and leave work or wait until tomorrow??
Sorry its an essay Tea and Chocolate Biscuits for everyone
