advice needed - horse vetting failed

Presumably if th X-rays are clear the insurance company would cover him.

I don't think this is the case if there is evidence is actively unsound, even in a minor way, as X-rays don't prove a horse is sound, they only prove there is no hard tissue pathology. Even that isn't hard and fast as arthritic changes can take time to appear even if the process is already underway.. At the very least I would expect them to exclude the leg.

Thanks TarrSteps :)

Yes my vet explained about the x rays and even if I did do them it would also not show up anything that has happened in past 12 weeks. Which happens to be when the horse has been in training for as well.

It is all just too risky I know.....so annoying as it could be nothing.

I have already left it, I told agent Monday I am no longer interested so she doesn't think I am currently thinking about it or anything.

With regards to my trainer yes she is helping me and will fly out to spain with me WHEN I have found something worth seeing. Currently I am sending her videos of potentials......and we will take it from there. There are a few in the UK that I am awaiting videos on at the moment and two of those I know as they have been out and about at the same shows as me so I know their horses results too.

Thanks again

Um, the OP seems to have had a rethink a couple of pages back. :)

I find mares have a softer approach to things, maybe its for when they have foals they cant just be jumping around the place thinking everything is going to eat them. I ride in a yard that slowly produces young horses. Last summer one pony that I worked on was a 5yo connemara gelding, the biggest sissy i have ever met, bolt at a cough and even slight leg movement and he would bolt in fear, I showed him as many things as I could, on the ground but he was so scared of everything. Strange thing was, show him any course of fences, or cross country and he was flying...provided you did not interfere much! He is just after being sold england, and the difference in him is incredible. I spent hours everyday with him, working with him showing him everything, and bringing him places. It took time but eventually he grew a pair and hes as quiet now. My point is he will eventually man up, hes only a baby now, still after how long you said hes backed, a year? It can take a good while. My friend bought a cob at 4yo, it took him three years to get over fears of ..life :P
Maybe one day he might quieten down for you, he sounds like a nice horse, and im sure it would be nice for you.

Get a vetting before you fly out
See what a vet says.
(sorry I don't know how it works in Spain)
You find a vet don't go with who sellers suggest.

Maybe go with xrays. Just on the problem area.
