Dear all,

I am looking for a livery stable yard for my 9 year old gelding as I will move to Loughborough from Germany. He is a high class dressage horse, having won up to advanced level and competed up to Inter I. As you can imagine,I can't put him in a random yard - it needs to be of high quality..also an 20x60m arena with training mirrors is needed and the opportunity to turn the horse out several hours a day on a safe yard. Also a solarium and horsewalker would be great. The opportunity of 'buying' service, such as grooming, longing, turning out or training the horse when I can't do it myself is needed. A good advanced level trainer would be great but not most important..

Of course I've been looking on google for hours already, but a webpage is never as helpful as some good advice - that's what I ask you for :)

Besides, I am happy for any advice for a good vetenarian in that area.

I will also take my dog with me, I wonder if you have any advice where to find an accomodation that allows pets?

Thank you all in advance!

the only place that I can think of that is like that is Vale View equestrian centre. Try googling it. They have competition there aswell as high class trainers such as ian woodhead

Yeah, this is kind of what I am looking for. But they don't have a lot of pictures...it's hard to get an idea of how it is/looks etc...probably I'll have to come to Loughborough once without horse in advance, to check the places out. Have you been to Vale View yourself already? If so, what was your impression?

Thanks!

Vale view would be one of the best options for you, IMO there arent any yards more suited to your needs in the area. Unless you wanted to go to a smaller livery with good facilities and have trainers travel to you, but VV i believe would be able to accomodate best for your needs in terms of having some chores/ exercise done for you. The facilities are great 2 indoor 2 outdoor and allweather sand xc area. The surface is well maintained and of a very good standard. They have mirrors in at least one indoor as far as I can remember. Not sure about amount of turn out. Give them a ring/ email I am sure they will be more than happy to help they have always been lovely when I have rung to ask questions about competitions they are running :p.

Vets- Chine House are the ones we have always used and are fantastic. We have had Simon Turner for years now and rate him highly as a vet (not saying the others arent good he just knows our horses' history the best).:)

We use simon turner for the event horses aswell.
Like becca1305 says it's got 2 indoors and 2 outdoors. The new indoor is pretty huge and they have alot of British dressage comps. I'm sure they have decent turnout, think it's all individual. Got it's own tack shop aswell!!

I AGREE that Simon Turner is one of the BEST vets around. All other vets are good at chine house but I only have Simon Turner now. He is SO honest and is so good with the horses.

Dear all,

thank you for all the helpful comments! I'm really looking forward to visit Vale View in the beginning of October and maybe ship my horse to England afterwards.
What would be the 'smaller private yards' without Trainers, that you were talking about? That might also be an option...I'd just like to have an idea about the possibilities :)

Best,
Liv

well there are lots of little ones in the area but they wouldnt likely provide facilities such as indoor arenas and have varying standards. Your best bet to look into this is to pick up a copy of the free "charnwood tails" magazine when you arrive in leicestershire from tack shops and also look at the adverts posted on the boards in the shops for livery spaces. Some nearby tack shops include.... The Clothes Horse (syston grange), The Bargain Barn (normanton on soar), and Riseholme Feeds (east leake). It really depends on your budget and what you deem that you couldnt manage without. Are you bringing a car over with you when you arrive in October? :)
