advice needed- my horse chases dogs

My horse chases dogs if they roam into her field. They always manage to run out in time, it looks like she's just playing chase as she doesn't look agressive when she's chasing but all the same, quite scary for the dog.
It's never been a major concern before as my dogs know to stay out of her field but I'm moving her to a new field and the lady that I'm sharing the field with has dogs who have free run of the field.

I really want this move to be successful so has anyone any advice on how to stop my horse chasing dogs out of her field? (seen her chase foxes too)
 
All you can do is warn the lady that your horse chases dogs and you're not sure with what intent! If she still wants her dogs to run free she can supervise the initial encounters and then leave them to it. I'm sure the animals will soon reach an understanding, till then let's just hope the dogs can run faster than the horse.
However if its ongoing and your horse is getting distressed or you're concerned at all, its more her duty to keep the dogs out of the field then it is yours to train your horse to stop chasing them.
 
:confused: Confused at to why the assumption is that the lady who owns the fields should allow her dogs to be chased by a guest horse??? When I had my land anyone renting grazing was informed it was on the understanding that my dogs lived there and therefore had free roaming, any horse caught challanging the very very horse friendly dogs was removed. In fact I had a number of liveries with horses who were afraid of dogs being extreamly happy after a few weeks at mine their dog fearful horses were now happy to walk alongside them without fear.

I'm assuming you've informed the land owner of your horses problem and she understands? Otherwise I'd be making a phone call before you move her because I know if I felt my dogs welfare was compromised I most certainly wouldn't be having the horse around. She was there first and her dogs shouldn't have to be monitored just because your horse has a problem.
 
I have told the lady that she chases dogs- her response was that her dogs would have to run faster. I have asked that she goes on a months trial. Was hoping that someone could offer me some advise on how they could cohabit without the chasing
 
I have a horse that hates dogs and will do his upmost to kill it. And sadly has done despite me warning the dog owner on many occasions. She tied it to a wheelbarrow while poo picking poor dog didnt stand a chance. It makes me so angry as he was a lovely dog and i love dogs.

Yeah, I missed the fact that the horse was moving to the dogs field. I thought two people were pairing up to rent a field together.

OP, what does the horse do if she's grazing and is approached by a dog on a lead? Hopefully in time she'll get used to them and the chase will lose its novelty when the dogs are always around.
 
It will be easier to teach the dogs to keep away. One of my dogs used to chase horses until one day one rather large gelding chased him. Poor dog was terrified but it taught him an important lesson and he has never chased horses again
 
All the horses on the yard accept my dogs (i am the YO). my dogs help turn out, bring in and are around the yard and horses generally. i do not allow my dogs to chase the horses, and insist that any other dogs that are brought onto the yard are kept on a lead. Also I allow my liveries to walk their dogs in the fields but if their dogs chase the horses they are told not bring them again.

One of my horses will not tolerate strange dogs in his field, mine are allowed to do what they want, but a strange dog is fair game and he gets rid of it pretty sharpish.
I am sure your horse will soon work out that they are friends.
