this time last year my little JRT was jumped on by a horse and dislocated her hip and chipped a small piece of bone off. she recovered very well.
Came home friday night at around 5 ish and she was on the sofa an absolute mess. shivering and panting, not responding to her name. Spoke to my vet at around 9pm when she still hadnt settled. she said it sound like she is in pain but ovbiously without seeing her she cant tell me what. i gave her some metacam and she perked up.
Today she jumped off the sofa and yelped and hopped around and started shivering and getting upset. she was holding her bad leg up (the one she dislocated) i had a feel around and she seemed ok. she wasnt overly keen on weight bearing to start off with. i gave her some metacam and im sat with her now just keeping her quiet. im going to speak to my vet later when i see her this afternoon and have a chat with her. im just abit worried that this is going to be a regular thing. il take her for a gentle walk later and see how she is.
not really sure what else i can do for her.

Sounds like she has a wee trapped nerve or is popping it out and back in again! See what the vet says but she sounds like it would be worth an xray and investigation. Poor wee thing...gentle hugs!

I feel her pain, my hip disocates and it hurts like hell, the shivering is a sign of stress/pain so she is def feeling pain, my hip hurts even when it's popped back in from the inflamation caused when it pops.
Def another trip to vets, I have been told to swim swim swim and build the muscle aound the hip.
This makes it wose:(
Its def not her patella is it?

im prety sure its not her patella. just the way she holds it. she doesnt hold it tucked up she sort of drags its which is what she did when it originally dislocated. My vet keeps her horse at the yard i work at on a sunday so i will speak to her when i see her later.
