I am looking to buy a 3.5ton renault masters horsebox which
are all usually rear facing, problem is all the breast bars are 4ft high which my 11.2hh won't be able to see over. Does he need to see over this or as it is rear facing could I put his haynet inside the horse area rather than in the tack area where they are to look over. Any advice apppreciated, many thanks.

Thanks for the idea trouble is the breast bars in these boxes unlike the trailers are solid wood down to the floor wih a small door in them.

I think the problem is that as the pony cannot get its head over they will have nothing that they are able to brace themselves against.

I wonder if a bale or two of hay/straw stacked and somehow secured would give them something to lean against but that they could also get their head over...

thats the trouble we had with little ones when we hired one of those boxes, i was reluctant to use bales as if unsecured then in an accident the could really harm the boys & in any case they would arrive at destination stuffed to the hilt with food (not great for pulling buggy around a x-country track)

im now looking to get a trailer/box that i can convert to accomodate them with lower breast bars ect. for the rear facing ones if you only travel tinys (like me) cut down the rear breast bar (check its not part of safety frame first) if not as someone said get a bar that can be mounted further back added on.

good luck

Thanks for all the advice I think i will either see if I can get the breast bar completely lowered or the idea of a lower breast bar further back seems a good alternative. Many thanks for all the replies
