Hi,

I'm lucky enough to get a company car with work and want to order a new Shogun. I don't know whether to get the Short or Long Wheel Base and what the difference is (aside from size and towing weight). The smaller one still tows 2800 kg which should be plenty, but the guy in the garage thought the larger one would be easier. I don't really need 7 seats as there's only me.

Can anyone offer any advice as to whether I can get away with the smaller one?

thanks very much

Lauren

The reason I went for the long wheel base is mainly because of the balance issue. A long wheel base means there is more on the front of the vehicle so with the weight of the trailer on the towbar, it finds it easier to pull as the balance is more correct. Does that make any sense? Also I have more room for all of my horses gear in the lwb as I could only just fit 2 saddles in the boot of the swb.

I have the SWB, it's great & tows my trailer easily, however the boot space behind the seats is very limited, so we leave these folded forwards all the time as we have a large greyhound, & she wouldn't be able to lay down with them upright, it's just a bit fiddly when you want to take a passenger folding them down again, & we couldn't take 2 passengers & the dog! Going to a show is fine if there are only 2 people, as 2 sets of tack fits with the seats up, but I can't really fit the tack & the dog too, so sadly she has to stay behind. The car has been completely trouble free, we've had him a few years & car cleaning & maintenance is pretty low on my to do list. If its any help, my friend had the LWB, it was massive, & I definately prefer the SWB, it should be fine if there's just you.

I have a SWB. It tows well but agree about boot space however if its just you then having the back seats down shouldn't be a problem...

Thanks, with no family or dogs it seems a waste to have 7 seats in the LWB, plus it will save me on tax if I can get away with the slightly cheaper one!

I'm happy to throw tack over the back seats if I go with a friend.

I regularly take two horses and just my own tack/boots/showing stuff/food etc and a passenger and have no problems with it or the space. I don't like having to take my stuff plus someone elses as it does take up all the boot space and back seat but there is plenty room for passengers and my tack etc

(I don't take the other person's stuff as they take another car with everything and the kitchen sink!) I have the SWB!
