I need to look at some options for rehoming my mare, as it's looking likely there will be changes in my job and possible redundancy which will mean I just can't afford to keep her any more. The problem is, 2009 has been a disastrous year for her in terms of injury. She was diagnosed earlier this year with a sacroiliac injury, which was healing well and she had just come back in to ridden work a month ago, when she over-reached badly in the field, so now has a nasty cut and it looks like she may have pulled a tendon in the process.

Am really trying to keep positive, and there's a small chance there may not be changes in my job so won't have to re-home her, but I would really appreciate some advice or thoughts on what I could do, just so I'm prepared. She's an 11 year old thoroughbred with a lovely nature, and I want to try to do the best for her that I can.

Thanks in advance.

You need to know whether she has injured her tendon as well as the over reach to asses her and what she can do work wise etc what ever happens with the job or not.

I would think about finding a sharer if possible if you could afford to pay some of the costs.
Alternatively look for someone who wants a full loan.

Until you know about your horses health it will be very hard to make a decision on what way you go forward if things should change with your job.

Fingers crossed there is no change in your job and then you can keep your horse.
