Hello everyone asking on behalf of a non-forum member we have a pickle regarding yards, the pros of moving would be, it's closer (literally 5 minutes away!), better arena, better hacking, but there is a bit of walk from the yard to the felds. the current yard is nice, and we get on well with the YO but it's about 15 - 20 minutes away, which makes it a rush in the winter to get down there and ride before it's dark.
what would you do?

Hmmm nice yard owners indeed nice yards are worth their weight in gold, think carefully before moving would be my advice!

Well, the potential new yard you say is better on three counts, the only issue is a longer walk to the field. To that I would say; don't be lazy, the extra walk will do you good, a bit of extra exercise never hurt anyone. The only big question is what is the YO like in the new place? The facilities could all be better than your current yard, but if you don't get on with the YO you're better off staying put IMHO.

i am on a fantastic yard but our summer turnout is a 15min walk over a motorway bridge and dual carriageway! Its well worth it when you get there tho and i have a spooky 4yr old and a sprightly 7 yr old. We plan when we are taking them/ bringing them back and after a summer of doing this both horses are very used to it and i can now lead them both at the same time with no problems. It is also very good for me as i have lost over a stone doing this walk daily. If the yard is good enough you can overcome an inconvenience
