Hey everyone
Hi, I'm Emily and I'm from New Zealand.
I'm planning on travelling the UK/Europe next year for a couple of months but lately i've been really thinking I would quite like to try and get a job over there for 6 months or so. I was thinking of trying to get a grooming job over the competition season so from March - Octoberish and then going traveling after the job finishes. So, I have a few questions
1) Generally, is this a stupid idea
2) How difficult is it going to be for me to get a job from over here (i'd really prefer to have a job secured before I leave) and where to look?
3) Is it going to be harder for me because I don't have any actual 'grooming' experience as such. I have had my own horses but they have both lived out and I've really not had much experience with looking after stabled horses (its really not done here unless they are competition horses).
and - any advice?
I know it isn't an easy job and you get paid a pittance but I'm not doing it for the money more for the experience to do something in a different country and doing something horsey as I don't plan on having a career in horses.
Any opinions welcome
