Advice needed regarding vets bills

Hiya Guys,
Just a bit of advice needed really,
I had a RSPCA Horse on foster so they pay bills it just lives with you :) Anyway the horse got ill one night colicy etc. So had consent from RSPCA manager to get a emerancy call out so called turn Valley Vets Shropshire. They said be their in 30 miniuts___ 30 mins went by toward a hour later had a call to say the vet who was suppose to be coming out couldnt so they were sending another one who said they would be their in 20 miniuts but were wanting to charge me for the vets bill even though I specifed it was RSPCA they wanted proof etc and were not prepared to do it blah blah blah a further 30 went by no luck and no appearence of any vet so called Severn edge and they came.Rang tern valley and just said look ive got severn edge out now I couldnt be messed about any more. Now Ive had a invoice for a emergancy call out? Well they didnt come .... what do I do? Can they charge me for this?

Thans for reading that hope it makes some sort of sense!
 
Tell them to spin on it and let them sue you. They won't. They said 30 minutes and could not send a vet until nearly two hours. You were entitled to call another vet and cancel them.

Is the horse OK?

I have a friend where the vet was two hours late bringing an x ray machine. In that time, an abscess popped and she cancelled them. They threatened her but she told them if they had turned up when expected it would not have been cancelled.

Fuming shocking service! The horse is still up and down but okay. If they hadn't of messed me about I wouldn't of canceled this vet will be out that vet etc 20 mins 1 hour wilist severn edge gave me a eta of 30 and their in 20! I was just worried I point blank refuse to pay not paying for someone who never even rocked up my driveway!
 
I didnt think so they saying well I called them Well yes obviously I had a sick horse who you couldnt be arsed to come out to because you wanted rspca to contact them well at 10oclock at night dont think yard staff are on duty!
 
Nope you called them, you cancelled them, they did not attend. = no invoice

I assume that because the animals wasn't registered with them they questioned payment and that is how the rspca conversation started. Pretty sure they legally have to attend an emergency regardless (my farrier has certainly had to) of the payment intracacies.

Yeah she was registerd this waas the problem.... But bascally the women from the rspca told me to ring the vets and get someone out and just say invoice to rspca equine. .... The rspca wernt happy because like they said they shouldnt of been a problem.
 
Which vet practice was the foster horse registered with? I notice you mention Shropshire vets. I have fostered twice from RSPCA Gonsal Farm in Shropshire, and as part of the foster agreement I nominate which vet practice I use.

I had to get an OOH callout once for a spasmodic colic in a foster pony, my usual vets (Nantwich vets) came out, RSPCA picked up the tab, all good.
 
Hiya yeah all with Tern valley was never a problem last time had to have them out once befote RSPCA were fab this time was like pulling teeth
 
I suppose the vet could of written it down in his book, attending suspected colic and didn't cross it out, so admin is just sending the invoice out without checking

I wouldn't pay it, you should be invoicing them for all the hassle they caused.

Write to the manager explaining what happened. Unless the vet attended and was then cancelled, in which case you would be charged a call out but no exam, then no charge should have been made. Probably an admin error.
 
If you had called them then cancelled them without the having to wait for a second vet I could understand as a vet would have been on their way etc.
However as you had to call another vet as they could not attend in a timely fashion there is no way in this earth I would be paying them a penny - threaten to report them to RCVS for slow to attend an emergency if they don't drop the charge..
