Advice needed

Help - I need some advice...
I'm not going to name names as I don't want to cause a drama and at this stage I'm just looking for advice.

To keep things simple. I know a woman selling a horse I know as a 'great first sports horse with high bsja winnings'. This woman knows the horses history, and when she was sold him, she verbally agreed to sell him as a dressage/hacking horse NOT a jumper. She knows for a fact that he should not be jumping high level anymore.
This horse WAS a showjumper, jumping high level and has a lot of bsja winnings, he then had a nasty accident (head and face) jumping a large coloured filler and refused to jump anything silimar again, ended up with a dealer (still with a serious injury) who is well known on this site and strongly disliked by the majority, they had him in a small paddock with 50 other horses and he got a nasty kick in the head, resulting in serious bleeding and brain swelling.
My friend was returning a horse to said dealer, and saw him, bleeding from the head, the dealer tacked him up and attempted to sell him as a showjumper, at which point my friend paid for him straight away, untacked him and rushed him to a vet. She then slowley brought him back to life and started to jump him again. She soon realised he would never jump at the level she jumps at, and despite putting everything into this horse she realised that as a showjumper, she needed to be realisitic about this horse and it was very clear he would never jump at that level again. She sold him as a hacking and dressage horse, and made sure the woman knew his full history.
I have now seen she is selling him as a jumping/sports horse. I'm worried he will fall into the wrong hands and end up hurting someone or himself, I don't want this boy to end up back with a dealer.
Any advice!? I know its nothing to do with me really, and I know she never signed anything to agree to not selling him as a jumping horse, but its quite clear this woman has decided to make money from this horse and not think about his future.

Thank you to the others on here who have already spoken to me about this, anyone else who has any advice? I feel like I can't do anything to help him or his future owner.
 
Your friend IMO, is as bad as the dealer. Firstly she bought a horse as a jumper who cannot jump due to previous trauma. All the while unscrupulous dealers are making money out of animals misery they have no incentive to change their habits.

Secondly, knowing the horse had jumping issues your friend continued jumping him.

That poor animal needs someone with an ounce of compassion to help him heal.

I know its not you but stories like this are awful. Buy the horse yourself and allow him to recover. Then when his physical and mental well being are resolved find him a suitable home.
 
I feel really sorry for this horse right now, some people are such utter selfish bastards! No your not sticking your nose in or anything your just a genuine human being who generally gives a [****]!
Is there any chance you can speak to her, try and have a chat with her and ask how comes shes now selling him as a jumper? See what she says and then try and sneak a word in it might make her think. I want to now go and rescue this poor boy! x
 
There is nothing you can do about this unfortunatly unless you want to buy the horse yourself and sell him on responsibly - the reality of buying and selling horses I'm afraid ! But I can understand why it upsets you.
 
You could try talking to the woman - appeal to her better nature or if that fails, threaten to go public with her name or warn off buyers - it may be an empty threat but it might work! But otherwise there's nothing you can do legally.

Is she a dealer? If so she is obviously bound by the sale of goods act - the horse would have to be fit for purpose, which presumably he isn't.
 
I'm not sure I was clear - This horse is a jumper, and jumps smaller jumps fine, but its ths high level jumping which is the danger, due to the lady selling him registering him with the bsja, so he will now have to enter at Discovery or higher due to his prevous winnings.
My friend didn't buy him as a jumper, she paid for him because she knew if she left him eith the dealer he would die, she only brought him back into jumping to see if he could cope with it, which she soon found out that anything too big, with fillers, was a no go area.
Sadley we can't buh him back as she is selling him for more than my friend paid for and we can't afford him.
He will make a lovely horse for someone, but is being advertised as somehtign he is not. So I'm worried he will end up with someone who wants to showjump, and they will have to sell him and this whole process will start again

i'd tell your friend, as she sold the horse to the woman. hopefully your friend can explain his trauma to the woman again and try to get her to advertise him as a hack etc. if not, unfortunately it does come down to 'caveat emptor.'

Sadley this woman knows his history and doesn't mind selling him to the wrong home, I know this happens all the time in the horsey world, but this poor horse has been through enough and deserves a good home.
Will talk to her again I think, see if she will reconsider.
 
Oh I see I thought you ment your friend was selling him. Well if its not your friend it doesnt really matter what you say why dont you just ask this stupid woman what the hell shes doing?!!!! Maybe a little more polite...just make her feel bad.
 
Surely if anyone tries out the horse they will know he wont be able to cope with the higher jumps? I think the woman is being incredibly stupid, as if he totally flips with the rider and they are injured, they could sue her for misrepresentation.

Also, if he is registered then surely anyone looking at his comp history will see that there is a gap in the dates - that usually sets alarm bells ringing.
