Hi all.
Hoping the lovely people on this forum will be able to help me make a decision :o. I took a horse on loan a few weeks ago with the intention of him being a share horse for my mom and myself. Long story cut short we now know that he will not be suitable for my 50yr old slightly nervous mom to ride. So now the dilema. I do not have the time to ride this horse 6 days a week on my own so do i :
1] Send the horse back to his owner and look for something more suitable?

2] Advertise for a sharer for this horse? Would need to be a patient, experienced rider though as this horse is not a novice ride!

Any advice/opinions welcome :)

I think it depends whether you get on really well with the horse. If not, I'd definitely send back if possible without upsetting the owner - he's not what you wanted for both of you.
But, if you do get on really well with him, and want to keep him for yourself to ride (and can cope with another for your mum, or not?) then maybe keeping him and getting a sharer is the answer.
Sorry, not very definitive! If you want to know how you really feel, flip a coin, decide beforehand "heads he stays, tails he goes" say, and then immediately after flipping it and seeing the result, analyse your instant feeling - relief, or upset. This tells you how you really feel about it...
Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Hi kjf. You do have a predicament here! I suppose the questions you have to ask yourself is do you want to continue with a horse who, it seems, isnt 100% suitable, and not have mum ride? Or set out to find an experienced sharer?

Hope it all gets sorted! xx

I do like the horse but he's not easy to ride or handle so not sure if i would easily find a sharer for him?! I dont have time to ride him everyday of the week [which he needs to stay sane!] so if i were to keep him i would need a sharer

Sadly i think thats what im going to have to do. Didn't want to mess the poor horse and his owner about but he is way more difficult than his owner made him out to be :(

Aw, I'm sorry :( But it'll be better for both of you in the long run, horse gets a more suitable place, you get a horse that both you and your mum can really bond and work with :)

I hope it all works out! xx
