Hi everyone,
my mare has recently gone barefoot (she has been barefoot in the past with no problems, then had two shoes on, then four for a while, then two, and now none again.) however I have noticed some cracks in her hooves (she is on biotin and always has been) and even though they were recently trimmed they don't look very good. she stumbled a bit tonight when I took her for a little walk inhand,so I am looking for some advice,
do I A. put all 4 shoes back on?
B. put her front shoes on
C. get a specialist barefoot person out
or D. just get another farrier trim?
when i ride her when shes barefoot, we do hacking but we are only on road for 5 mins total there and back. we also do some schooling once a week in a sand menage, and hacking 2-3 times (not always long hacks of course, just a short little walk 2 of the times, the other time we go to the beach ) .
she is nearly 21 years old and is a thoroughbredxwelsh. in september last year she had 2 granulosa cell tumours removed and is finally putting on better condition / muscle / weight.
also...we bought a new saddle for her late january and got her back done as her old saddle no longer fit, that's all sorted, shes putting on weight/muscle again but now she has a sore back again so i'm sorting physio/saddler for next week and until thats sorted she'll be off work. but she seems a bit miserable in herself (she barely ate her haynets last night but is eating her breakie/dinner/grass fine) i'm wondering if it is her back/feet) that are making her a bit sad? i really want to get everything sorted ASAP, but i just want to hear everyones opinions?
thank you!!
