I bought a horse from a dealer that was supposed to be a confidence giver to help me regain my confidence. When I tried him I jumped him, hacked him and rode him in the school, he behaved perfectly and jumped well considering i am a novice jumper. After he arrived i gave him a few days to settle in. When i rode him in the school he was spooky riding around the fences, i gave him the benefit of the doubt that it was new surroundings. However he was also spooky hacking out. I had a jumping lesson on him with my trainer. He stopped at the first fence (tiny cross pole). I gave him a slap and got him jumping round on both reins. We then put up a tiny upright, we came to it on a nice rythm, he was keen to the fence but right at the last minute dropped his shoulder and stopped, chucking me off causing me to badly break my arm.
I have tried to chuck the horse back at the dealer as i dont believe it is what it was sold to me as. I dont believe a confidence giver would stop at a 1ft upright, it should walk over it. The dealer will exchange but not refund - does anyone know where i stand?
