advice on bearded collies

Hi

I'm new to this forum and i'm hoping some of you very knowledgeable people will help. I am looking for a bearded collie pup for my folks, they lost sherpa at the grand old age of 22, 5 years ago and it has taken them some time to get over it. Sherpa came to the family home as a rescue at the age of 18months and from day one was a super dog both for the three of us kids at the time and for my folks. They are in the mind to get another one but i don't know of any breeders (as sherpa was an advert in a paper shop near my grandparents, 26 odd years ago) . thanks for taking the time to read my very long winded explanation and any help gratefully received

I don't have a bearded collie but may I suggest getting a border collie?
They are very loyal dogs, I should know I go everywhere with mine and she's never had a lead on her. The adapt to live wherever, mine came from a flat and is now living on the farm with me, my other half and the three kids.

unfortunately border collies are more my thing than theirs have tried selling them that idea with no success even though my old boy was my dog of a lifetime and never put a foot wrong they really want a beardy

Do be careful as some beardies from dodgy breeders can have sharp temperaments. We used to have a puppy farm not far from here and their pups were all nervous/nasty whereas the well bred ones were sweeties.

That's a shame, Border's are really amazing dogs to have. What about a dalmation or Labrador? Or do they definitely want a bearded collie?

Where are you? I know a good breeder in Scotland.
I agree, a well bred beardie is a delight.

i'm in edinburgh at the moment but from the 14th of sept i'm moving to deepest darkest north wales for work but OH will be remaining in edinburgh for the next 2.5 months so we are very flexible on where we look if that makes sense?
