Hi! I'm looking for some thoughts on how to best change a horse's feed completely from one type of base feed to another plus new supplements and immune supporting feed.

My Cob (bought very recently) is currently on Calm and Condition, but it's becoming clear that he struggles with CPL and I'd like to adjust his feed to support him there. Instead of one feed I got him 3 different products for different things and wondering how to introduce them (base feed recommended for CPL horses, immune support feed and a supplement to help the lymphatic system?.

My current thought is to first change the base feed gradually, feeding parts of the old & new together and increasing the dosage over time. Once he's on the new feed, then introduce the immune support stuff over a few days/weeks and then lastly the new supplement. In terms of ingredients there is very little overlap, so I guess I'm looking at a month+ to make the change.

Does this make sense? Would you do it differently?

I'd just do half and half for 3 days or so, and start with one supplement a day so you can spot if one doesn't suit, then which one it was. It sounds like you are moving to a more 'natural' feed base, and the bucket feed is probably a very small component of daily intake for a cob.

So, for me, it would be a 3 day switch over.
