Advice on colt please (also in breeding)

Hi all
This may be a stupid question but at what age could a colt become fertile and successfully cover a mare? Could this happen at 3-4 months old? Thanks

In my experience a colt of this age would not be able to successfully cover and impregnate a mare. I suspect he's just feeling his feet so to speak. The earliest I've known a colt become sexually mature is 7 months. If you talk to your vet he should put your mind at ease.

I understand from 6 months on but unlikely to be until 12 - 18 months, I suppose they all vary in their development so it is possible it could be younger than 6 months.
