Advice on feeding the shrinking one please?

hi, can anyone recommend a good feed for my mare? she has been lame all summer and after finally finding out why i have been advised by the vet to turn her out on a small square during the day and bring here in at night. as there is hardly nay grass in her field she has started to lose weight and i really dont want this to happen at this time of year!! at the moment she is on hay at night and i have been putting it in the field and also being fed healthy hooves and i balancer. i feel like i should be giving her something else now though to try to put a bit of weight on her. someone suggest calm and condition and someone else suggested speedibeet Any suggestions from previous experience? Many thanks

Another vote for Speedibeet. She could have a lot of it, and also a forage based feed such as HiFi or similar. Linseed is good for weight gain and can be bought micronised and ready to feed.

We successfully used a build up mix with the good old sugar beet and veteran chaff to put weight on our 27 yr old

I found alfa-oil a really good weight gain food, and gave my horse an amazing shine on his coat aswell.
