I'm not sure really, he's not off the lead much because he just wants to be best friends with every dog ever! But I go out at 7am with him across some fields so now and then he is off and he'll dash after a pigeon or a squirrel but not for long. I'm pretty sure a whippet should be able to catch a pigeon 
He never glances at cats when he's on a lead around houses so that makes me happy. But he only has one ball at the moment - perhaps more testosterone is to come!
He's staring at some cows across the river in that picture, he's fascinated and a bit scared of them (and horses!)
