I have nearly 2 acres of badly poached paddock.
I have quad bike and have found some affordable 3ft chain harrows locally.

Is 3ft going to be too poxy? (I don't mind spending the extra time trundling around on the quad-terrier will love it:D) but I don't want to waste my hard earned cash on a tool which is not going to do the job. Another £50 would buy a new 4ft set.

Please help me decide.

Thanks.

For just £50 I'd go for 4' - as Martlin says you want it to stick out wider than the quad ideally, so you harrow the tyre marks too.

The 3' would still be ok if not, but if you add in the extra petrol for going round more times the 4' and another £50 would probably pay for itself in a few years!

Thanks for the replies. I had not added the petrol into the equation!
However, more research has thrown up the fact that with delivery charges and VAT the 4 ft is twice the price of the 3 ft and the 3ft is light enough for me to drag around the bottom half of the field by hand(its a 1 in 3 gradient and I'm a novice quad rider!)

Also thinking of attaching it to my terrible 2 year old.......seeing as she is the one perfecting her handbrake turns on the steep slope!

I have a 3ft chain harrow that attaches to my quad and does the job nicely. As I have to hitch it up myself, suspect that I would find a 4ft a little heavy.

Actually I do, as we have the pipes for the water feeders running across the entrance to our fields - if I try to tow it over these pipes it always hooks onto them so have to manually pull it over....

Of course this would be imaterial if I got off my arse and buried said pipes!!!!!

LOL, there always is a job that needs doing :D
