Hi all,
I am looking for advice from others about the best way to lay out an american barn and what items small or big that are a must to make your barns so special
I already have a barn on site which is built just like a small american barn with one big open space, it has two very large barn sliding doors at each end. One door connects to what will be the horses field and the door at the other side opens to the farm yard. I will be leaving the field door open all the time in the day so it can be used as shelter for my horses and they can come ad go when they wish. My plan is to cut the barn in half, have one half completely open with some straw down, a haulage bail and water for there shelter and then on the other half of the barn have the stables (I only have one horse at the moment but when I move in I will buy another so i will have two stables). It is a must for me that they have half to have in the day and the other half with stables for night.
However, my main problem is I don't want to put anything permeant up, this is so if i decide to have more horses in the future i can move everything around how i wish. So I'm defiantly going to get stalls that can be removed, however i don't know what to use to separate the two sides which isn't permanent? Any recommendations much appreciated!!!
I will be keeping my hay in a hay barn separately, I do have room in the american barn to have a tack room, rug room and feed room in my stable side. However, i do have many other buildings near by i could use for that instead. I was thinking of having my rug room in the barn and then tack and feed room in a separate barn incase they ever managed to get into the area.
What are some of yours experience with the best way to set it up and anything you think is a must i put in
