I lost my beautiful girl on Monday, it was very quick, we decided to take her to the vets at seven and she was gone by half past nine, I feel so blessed to know that she fell asleep in my arms. I am absolutely devastated, I've cried myself to sleep the past two nights and struggled to not well-up at work. I'm trying to find some comfort and I thought I might get a keepsake with some of her hair in just so I still have a bit of her with me.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks for reading a miserable post xxx

So sorry OP, they break your heart, don't they. I know jewellery is popular using horse hair or perhaps an old or contemporary mourning ring. Or you could have a painting or some sort of ceramic art of your dog.

So very sorry for your loss ((hugs)) our dog has just been diagnosed with a heart tumour, vet said he may have a few days/week to live :( we feel numb with pain.

Really feel for you, broke my heart when I lost mine and actually needed time of work! On google (can't remember site name) you can find people who will spin the hair into a either a jewellery item or as a glass ornament, they actually look really nice and because they are encased in the glass, here is no risk of the hair becoming lost or wearing away over time xx

Thank you for your replies, like I say I'm devastated. We got her from the RSPCA at 10 (Alsatian with arthritis) I fell in love with her the minute she came home. She has been a faithful companion to my whole family and we had her for five wonderful years (when we got her we thought it would be two at most). Her arthritis got much worse but she was still so happy, we couldn't let her go. two months ago she was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in her mouth, we were told she may only have weeks. On Friday it just tripled in size and she started to struggle breathing so in a way it was quick, which I'm glad for. Still doesn't help the pain.
Once we'd decided that it was time we gave her a full pack of bacon (we're vegetarians so a huge treat for her) and she had a cup of tea and a short stroll in her dog buggy (because of her arthritis she hadn't been out of the house in over a month).
We went to the vets and she was laid on the floor, I held her as she fell asleep and as she went she leant into me, im sure everyone knows the pain and I know it will never fully go away, but I gladly suffer it because I would not change one second of the time I had with her to lessen the grief x
Anyhow (drying tears) here's a picture of her five years ago when she first came to live with us- what a cutie pie!

she always had this smile and the curly tail (when she was excited), such a special creature :)

What a beautiful girl! She was very lucky to have found you! Take comfort from the fact that you were with her at the end and treasure all the happy memories xxx

A horrible, but important part of having a pet, I still have a horses passport, my old GSD's collar, my OH's horses double bridle and travel boots, but I take most comfort from remembering happy times and knowing I did the last kindness for them, all are still missed terribly and you will have good days and bad days, you have my sympathy xx
