my big mare is a notorious self harmer; she stuck her leg through a gate in oct and done her suspensory ligament in her near fore, we had her nerve blocked and x-rayed and she had 6wks box rest. she came sound in dec but due to a nasty overreach and a dose of pnemonia (sp?) was not brought back into work until april this year. she has been totally sound but often stands with her 'bad' leg just resting on the toe. anyway tonight she has a hard lump on the outside of her cannon bone just below her knee (and yep it's on the bad leg of course) there is heat in it and she is perhaps 3/10's lame but weirdly after i had cold hosed it what had initially felt like one lump was actually two; a smaller lump above a larger lump. so have bandaged her up tonight and will cold hose and reaccess in the morning. what does everyone think? a splint? a kick? if it was a diff leg i'd probably just cold hose and bandage (which is what i've done) but i'm really worried. sorry this is so long. thank you xxx
