My horsebox has a rubber ramp with metal strips running across it. Its in great condition but noticed today when I unloaded my horse he had trod on one of the strips and not sure how he managed to but whatever angle he trod on the strip has caused it to slice into his heel. Ive not had any problems with this before and just wondered if there is anything you can buy to cover the metal strips to prevent this happening again. The rubber on the ramp is textured to prevent slipping and in good condition so Im not keen to replace the whole ramp cover. Any advice would be great...

When I replaced my ramp for the 2nd time ( first put cheap ply not marine play)

I was going to get rid of the wood slats . Then was told the wood was from and American tree very rare and very expensive and very hard wearing , They then got a coat of preserver and put back on, I am very please with the wooden ones I would suggest wooden :)
